So when I saw
measi was starting this thing, I was intrigued. I started a mental list, which turned into a handwritten list, which turned into a computer list. I'm not going to get into my issues about planning for the future, but I started struggling once I got to about 100. That's why it took me about 2 weeks to come up with what I did, and why the last 67 are blank. I admire those of you who were able to leave only 20 blank. Anyway, I'm jumping on the bandwagon...

I'm still working on this, so I'll be editing it a bit over the next couple weeks... but since
myownwench asked me if I had mine up yet, here's how it looks so far. :) I have repeats of things that I honestly DO need a kick in the ass to do every year.
Start Date: January 1, 2010
End Date: July 4, 2015

If there's any errors, repeats, etc. in here, I'd appreciate if y'all'd let me know. I left some open spots, because I'm sure over the next five years, I'll come up with more. Still... lot of things. It took a few days to come up with them all, but since some of these things were in fact started right after the new year, I'm setting the start date as January 1 of this year.
Start date: January 1, 2010
End date: July 4, 2015

What is this project?
The 210 in 2010 project is a goal-making project based off of the long-running and highly successful 101 things in 1001 days. We're just expanding the timeframe a bit. 2010 days is just over 5.5 years - allowing for some of those huge goals you have that will take more than the normal 1001 day timeframe, as well as goals you may wish to repeat, or goals that have several big steps along the way - goals themselves - to a final mega-goal.
How do I start?
First, grab a notebook or a fresh document page on your computer, and start daydreaming things you want to accomplish. Big or small, write them all down. Don't dismiss things that right now seem out of reach - in five years, life can change a lot, and you may be able to accomplish those dreams. Make sure to include some easier goals, too - so you have the reinforcement of completing goals.
Next, pick a date to start your list, and figure out from that date where your 2010 days ends.
Finally, organize your list however you want (categories, straight lists, etc) - and post it on your journal, website, or this comm (use lj-cuts please!).
How do I figure out what my end date will be? Go to this fantastic calendar generator: http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.h tml.
What are some of the examples of other people's lists?
Check out anyone's list on the comm for inspiration. You'll find most of them under a tag called "goal list." There are other comms on LiveJournal doing the 101 in 1001 days challege, too. Or when in doubt, Google it.
I can't think of 210 things!
It is a massive undertaking. If you're overwhelmed by the idea of 210, start with the standard 101 in 1001. You can always expand the list later if you're feeling good about your progress.
Another thing I suggest is - leave 25 or so goals "free" to add in during the life of the project. In five years, you'll probably have new interests or discoveries you'd want to add. Life changes, and new goals/dreams get added along the way.
My goals seem small and petty - I feel like I'm cheating
Don't be. The goal of this project is to celebrate accomplishments. While yes, the big long-term goals are important, so are the small ones. If the goal is something you want to accomplish, it's important.
Can I include big projects currently in progress?
Absolutely. Use the list as an inspiration method to keep yourself going.
What if later I don't want to do something (or no longer can) on my list?
Either replace it with something you do want to do, or just scratch it as a "retired" goal. Your revisions are up to you.
I have other questions.
We'll try to answer. Please leave a message to that post. Posts are screened until answered (please indicate if you'd prefer your question stay locked). We'll add generalized questions and answers to the FAQ to help other members.

I participated (somewhat successfully) in the 101 things in 1001 days meme from 2006-2009. I decided that I'd hold off putting together a list until the new year to kick it off with things to strive for. Not resolutions, per se - because I know I'll break them in that format. But goals
However - the fact that it's a new decade is making me think that maybe I should do something bigger and bolder. It was a bit tricky coming up with that 101 project list, mostly because I felt that only big things could really go on it. I want to celebrate the little accomplishments too, as well as be realistic in the financial timeframe for some of my goals (like... house renovation stuff) due to real life, the current economy, and whatnot.
Out of sheer goofiness with the year change, I decided to see what would happen if I upped it from 101 in 1001 to 210 in 2010 (catchy, eh?). What date would it fall on to end if I put my list as of January 1st? So I go over to the handy, dandy calculator and factor 2010 days.
To my amusement - it's July 4th, 2015. The idea of celebrating with fireworks and BBQ is enough of an incentive to me, so I'm in. (I'm not that difficult to please, clearly). I may be stupid. I know I'm beyond hope in silliness. But hey, I'm intrigued by this idea... and I think celebrating success is a GOOD thing.
And I figured I'd invite my friends list (and by extension, anyone else who might be crazy enough to do this with me) to jump on the insane bandwagon, too, whether with a 101 in 1001 days, or 210 in 2010, or some nifty new derivative that you come up with.
Welcome to the comm. :)
